Tram travel affected

Travel across Salford is expected to be affected this weekend as no trams will run through the Cornbrook tram stop.

It is expected that services will be impacted across the Eccles line from Saturday 5 October to Sunday 6 October, with bus replacement services being offered.

The closure by TfGM are due to important changes that will help provide a more reliable network that helps commuters across Salford and Greater Manchester.

TfGM have made adjustments to prevent a complete disruption across the city, offering a bus replacement service that will be put in place between Eccles and Piccadilly (via Media City) across the weekend.

As a result of the closure of the tram stop TfGM have warned travellers that there may be changes to the first and last tram times during these works.

As tram stops along the journey include, Eccles, Ladywell, Weaste, Langworthy, Broadway, Harbour City, Anchorage, Salford Quays, Exchange Quay, and Pomona are set to be impacted.

However, this shouldn’t be a concern with the bus service being able to take commuters to all the appropriate stops, including Deansgate-Castlefield, St. Peter’s Square, Piccadilly Gardens and Piccadilly.

The October updates to the rail network are set to be made, Ian Davies, TfGM’s Interim Network Director for Metrolink, added: “These works are a vitally important part of maintaining a safe and reliable network for all our customers.

“The work has been scheduled to minimise disruption to passengers and residents as much as possible – including keeping noise levels to a minimum.”

Those who intend to travel across Manchester City Centre and further regions across Greater Manchester should be aware that replacement services will be available from Firswood to Victoria, Old Trafford to Piccadilly, and Eccles to Piccadilly.

“Replacement bus services will operate across the weekend, so people can still get to and from their intended destinations and I’d encourage passengers to plan journeys and leave plenty of time to reach events over the weekend.

“Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the latest information and advice.”
