Torrential rain can deter the most hardy Salfordians from stepping foot outside.

It can be easy to just stay inside bored and watch the weather take over the day so here are five ideas of things to do on a rainy day:

Visit Salford Museum and Art Gallery –

A Salford classic that has always been regarded perfect for families is the Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

The free day out offers a wide variety of events for visitors, who can explore the museum and gallery, having the opportunity to walk through Salford past that features many old Salford relics.

The website shares the exciting activities that can found inside, as they shared: “Our recreated street and step back in time to experience what life was like in Victorian Salford.

“Get inspired in our galleries and discover historic masterpieces in the Victorian Gallery.

“Explore the collection further in the Langworthy Gallery or see contemporary artwork from emerging and established artists in our programme of changing exhibitions.”

And if it isn’t just the history and art that you are after, the gallery is running an event for Salford family fun with spooky activities throughout the October half term holiday between October 22 to November 1.

Throughout the event the gallery will offer activities such as creating clay monsters, as well as creating Victorian Ghosts, and for the price of only £3 it would definitely keep the whole family entertained.

Wander round Ordsall Hall

Salford’s very own Ordsall Hall is free to visit and offers a range of activities all under one roof.

Dating back to 1177, the hall is the third oldest building in Greater Manchester, and despite its age it still holds an importance to the community with its modern edge, as it continues to be perfect destination for many.

The hall has a gallery with a permanent exhibition dedicated to artist Frederic Shields, showcasing all of the work the renowned artist completed throughout his career.

The free to visit the site with Ordsall Hall sharing the activities on offer, as they said: “There is so much to do and discover!

“Dress up as a Tudor, try on some chainmail, discover some of the foods that would have been cooked at the Hall in the 1500s, pretend you are having a feast around the table in the Great Hall.”

With loads on offer Ordsall Hall promises a historical family fun day out, that would definitely keep you dry and entertained throughout a rainy day.

Have a jump at Bounce Central – 

Bounce Central is a trampoline park located in Swinton and is home to over 65 trampolines and also houses a ‘Jurassic Jungle Soft Play’.

The park promises a fun day out or even just an hour or two of laughs for all ages with many different activities available that include jump sessions, birthday parties and even fitness classes!

There’s also plenty of events throughout children’s holidays from school, which would be a great filler if the weather isn’t great.

For the price of £2 for a two hour bouncing session, it is the perfect opportunity to keep young children entertained throughout the holidays.

Take a trip down music history at Salford Lad’s Club –

Salford Lad’s club is etched in the city’s very own history, and has made itself known from iconic Manchester band, The Smiths.

The club had a profound impact on putting Salford on the map, and even acts as it’s own tourist attraction.

Many local residents usually just drive past the iconic landmark and many may not have even visited it before.

The club holds an iconic ‘Smiths room’, which has been described by a visitor Simon Wendt: “This room is more than just a tribute, it is an intimate love letter to The Smiths.

“A place where one becomes part of the affair by simply enjoying the air that it breathes. It is folk art of the most precious.”

Salford Lad Clubs offers  visiting hours from 11am-2pm between Wednesday- Saturday.

If you have never been before it is definitely worth checking out one of the most iconic buildings in Salford.

Watch a show at the Lowry Theatre – 

After its opening in 2000, The Lowry theatre has been the home of the city’s culture for the last two decades.

The theatre has hosted a range of shows this past year, with some of the more notable being; Derren Brown’s show- Only Human, The War Horse as well as even showing a recent performance from Strictly’s very own Giovanni and Anton.

The Lowry has plenty of new shows on throughout this rainy autumn.
