Tonight Salford Red Devils have the opportunity to punch their ticket to the semi-finals of the playoffs in a fiery affair against Leigh Leopards.

Ahead of the fixture Head Coach, Paul Rowley talked about his aspirations for the qualifier as they aim to get one step closer to the Grand Final at Old Trafford.

With only few tickets remaining, the stakes couldn’t be higher ahead of the fixture.

And it was clear that Paul was aware of this even earlier than this tie dropping majority of the starting players for their 64-0 defeat to the Wigan Warriors.

With his side finishing fourth they were able to secure a home playoff fixture, with Paul speaking on the experience, he said: “The rollercoaster has been ridden for a couple of months now.

“It has been very tight as everybody knows throughout the season so it is a tremendous achievement from our players to nail fourth spot, so I am very happy.”

And following the previous defeat he spoke proudly about the players who participated in the fixture, as he continued: “The youngsters carried the badge brilliantly, and I thought the way they competed for everything.

“I was very proud of the team to be honest, which is a bizarre statement for such a one-sided score line.”

With the Red Devils often not looked at as a favourite or a contender because of their low spending, it has been an amazing season, as Paul said: “We have still got a talented bunch of players, and we always say with a little bit of luck, you know everyone needs a bit of luck regarding injuries.

“When we have our full team back, we have fun and we back ourselves.”

With the playoffs fixture only hours away, he continued to mention on the fiery affair: “It is obviously going to be tight, it is play off rugby isn’t it.

“Leigh have been in fantastic form, so interesting with five Lancashire clubs in the playoffs so there is rivalry everywhere you look really.

He continued: “They are a very aggressive side. We are going to have to be tough and switch on for the full 80 as always in playoffs.”

“It is going to have to be a complete performance.”

With previous experiences in the mind of the Red Devils, he continued: “We have been consistent in how we prepare week in week out, and we have kept it the same manner.

“We don’t want to play the games in our head six or seven days ahead of the game, we are a pretty chill bunch.”

The game can be anticipated to be a fiery affair, and with only a few tickets remaining it looks to be a recorded attending crowd, as all eyes will be on the Red Devils as they look to go one step closer to the final.

With even Salford Mayor, Paul Dennett sharing his faith ahead of the fixture: “It’s a huge game for Salford Red Devils in the play-offs tonight, and the 1st game since the Community Stadium was fully brought into public ownership!
