Salford Red Devils prop, Summer Harris, is expected to be out for 10 weeks after undergoing surgery for her Lisfranc ligament injury.
Harris, who had her cast removed today, is said to be recovering well but will not be able to return to the field until December.
But she is raring to go and hopes to be back for preseason.
She said: “I should hope to be fit for the first game back, if not then the second or third.”
Harris aims to learn from her previous injury the season before,
She said: “It was a real low point for me. I sprained my ankle quite badly. I was out for six weeks. That wasn’t a good point in my career.”
But she knows she came back stronger and better than ever, so hopes she can do the same this time around.
She is itching to impress her new coach, Mike Grady, who started last season.
She added: “It has been good to get a fresh perspective on the team, so he can hopefully take us to the next level.
“He has never coached a women’s team before, which we have taken as a positive, because it has good to get a fresh insight on the game.
“He can take what he knows from the men’s game and implement it into our own.”
The message is clear going into the new season, with fans urged to be positive for the new season.
She said: “There have been a few setbacks, but it looks as if they have used those setbacks to spring on and get better than ever.”
