Jo A national construction firm with offices in Salford has collapsed, with nearly 100 jobs being lost across Greater Manchester.
The construction firm, ISG, which had an office in Blue Tower, Media City, has been at the centre of many projects across Greater Manchester.
Its collapse means 98 jobs will go here and around 2,400 across the country.
The firm had contrubuted to projects including Salford University’s Energy House which acts as a testing space for new materials and research theories around sustainability.
Its offices had been at the Tomorrow building (pictured) and previously at Exchange Quay.
Administration agency EY said: “ISG’s UK operations, which provided construction and related services across the UK, have ceased to trade with immediate effect.
“ISG’s UK business has experienced liquidity constraints in recent months.
“The Directors explored a number of options to secure the future of the business, including a sale of all or part of the Group and refinancing options.”
The statement says the company made multiple attempts to save the firm, which also included a buyout which fell through.
The statement continued: “Despite significant efforts to secure a sale of the group over many months, a deal could not be completed.
“Whilst there has been misleading speculation surrounding the potential sale in the last few days, we wish to be clear to employees, suppliers, and customers that it was not possible to conclude a sale.”
Some staff are being kept on during the “winding down” of the business.
EY said: “As the business has ceased to trade, regrettably the majority of roles will be made redundant with immediate effect.”
