This marked the celebration of 50 years of Lledr Hall, as the council encourage residents to visit the outdoor education centre in Wales.
The historic hall that has hosted generation of Salford’s young people since 1974, as it celebrated its 50th year of operations.
It has been a significant memory for many in the area providing children to visit the Snowdonia National Park and experience unforgettable adventures.
And continues to be important today, with an estimated 90,000 visitors since its opening over five decades ago, with a further estimated 1,800 visitors a year.
The outdoor education centre offers the younger generation of Salford, the opportunity to experience activities like climbing, abseiling, and surfing.
Even being able to take in the scenic experiences through walking and canoeing, which has allowed the centre to leave a lasting impact on countless lives.
The memories shared could be found on Facebook, with generations of Salfordians sharing their memories of the Hall.
With Michelle Zelazowski sharing: “My mum went to Lledr Hall in 1970s, then I went to Lledr Hall around 1988. My son went to Lledr Hall in 2022.
“Three generations of us have been. We all have very fond memories and fantastic experiences.”
As well as Angela Burbidge, who wrote: “I have fantastic memories from going with Wentworth High School in 1993.”
With all 18 staff members being employed by the the council, the hall also encourages children to be active in outdoor environments, and make healthier choices when they are older.
The centre has also been a beneficial part of building relationships between teachers and students, as it allows teachers to be seen in a different light through different activities on offer.
With the long lasting importance, Councillor Bill Hinds, Executive Support Member for Education, Learning and School Improvement, said: “Lledr Hall is a fantastic place that will hold so many great memories for young people now, their parents, and grandparents.
“We want to celebrate everything it has done over the years.”
As he Bill continued to add: ““We’re very proud of the standard of our residential outdoor education centre which… continues to hold the highest award for quality outdoor education provision and outdoor learning in the UK.
“This result is because of the hard work, dedication and commitment of the whole staff team at the centre who strive to give of their best to the children of Salford every day.”
With over 1,8000 visits annually, more memories of the hall were shared to Facebook, as Colin Bailey Moore wrote: “I visited a few times in the late 80’s early 90’s with St James and OLMC (Salford), I absolutely loved every minute.”
With Jane Hill adding on social media: “My children went and the eldest grandchild went just this year. Great experience for them.”
