Salford born MMA fighter, Sheldon Ryan looks towards his next bout this weekend at the BEC Arena in Manchester.

Sheldon otherwise known as ‘The Salford Lion’ will look to return to winning ways with his confirmed fight against Gregory Wamytan.

The fighter raised in Ordsall and currently living in Eccles, will be looking to get his fourth professional victory fighting under the Cage Warrior 178 card.

The flyweight fighter was unfortunate in his previous contest losing out on a split decision against Michelangelo Lupoli at Cage Warriors 168.

With the fighters last victory coming in July 29 2023, winning the fight against Nicola Tropi with a rear naked choke in the first round of the fight.

With a lot of excitement ahead of the bout this weekend, Sheldon said: “I can’t wait to be fight there [BEC Arena] it is my second time as a pro fighter.

“It will be third time there in all, and I just feel so comfortable fighting their now and on this event. I want to make a statement.”

As he continued: “I just want to get back on a roll, and get the finishes really.”

The event kicks off at 18:30 pm, with Sheldon making it onto the preliminary card, with the fighter expected to have a bout of three five minute rounds.

However, with the effort he has been putting in he hopes that he can get the job done earlier, as he said: “I want to put a statement down, especially with it being a home show.”

And his confidence as a fighter was evident as he continued to speak on the significance of fighting in front of a home crowd: “You don’t realise you have so much support from people you don’t know.

“It makes you feel more comfortable having that support”, continuing to add: “I just can’t wait to get the win, it is the goal that I have set myself.”

However, it won’t be an easy fight with his opponent dropping down a weight class from the Bantamweight category with Sheldon fighting at the Flyweight category.

Despite the change in weight class, the fighter remained confidence that he was going to win, as he continued: “I am going to go for the finish, it is what people want to see.

Although he didn’t underestimate his opponent as he said: “The guy I am fighting is very good and a dangerous fighter.”

But he it was clear that he wasn’t thinking of a defeat, with dreams of securing titles in the future, as he said: “I do predict a finish, and want a first or second round finish. And then we will move forward from there.”
