Police seized an “avalanche” of drugs and £40,000 in cash from two addresses in Eccles this early morning.

The warrants took place on Liverpool Road and Hallsworth Road with officers seizing over a kilo of cannabis and also a luxury vehicle.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were later arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and money laundering. Both of the suspects remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Rebecca McGuigan said: “Drugs cause an untold amount of harm in our community and to get over one kilogram of Class B off the streets is a really positive result for us.

“The removal of this substantial quantity of drugs is a massive stride in our efforts to disrupt the activities of organised criminals profiting from drug sales.

“We rely on information provided by the public, and I encourage anyone with concerns or information about drug-related activities in their area to come forward and speak with the police directly or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

“You can report information by calling 101, reporting online at www.gmp.police.uk or contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
