The committee at Weaste & Seedley Social Club have raised nearly £600 for charity over the weekend.
The club on Weaste Lane raised £591 for the charity ‘A little extra Salford’ on Friday (July 26) with an 80s vs 90s themed night.
A little extra Salford is a group that provides support for children with Down syndrome and their families. The group was created last year in July 2023 and meets every Saturday at Broughton Hub.
Michelle Wright, who is also a committee member of the Weaste club, takes her daughter Ciara to A little extra Salford every week. She wanted to give back to the group through arranging the fundraising night.
She said it “feels really good” to be able to raise funds for the group.
Michelle, from Weaste, said: “We did much better than expected. It was a really good turnout, every table was full.”
The 80s vs 90s themed night featured music from the DJ Marc Bailey and many locals and business donated ‘amazing’ gifts for the night’s raffle including Bee Orchid and Chic Studios.
Weaste & Seedley Social Club are currently offering the venue for free for any charity fundraiser events.
Michelle added: “It’s important for us to get the funds together for the groups so they can keep carrying on.”
