Eccles Old Road

Eccles Old Road is set to be closed for a three-month period as £700,000 works take place to fix its condition.

The works to resurface the road will start in August this year. The works also include the removal of a bus lane, resurfacing, drainage and new road markings.

The works, which are expected to last until October, comes after Salford City Council raised concerns about its deteriorating condition.

The busy road joins up the A6 Broad Street towards Manchester and also provides access to Salford Royal Hospital.

Salford’s roads have been previously slammed by the local councillor Andrew Walters, who represents Kersal and Broughton Park. He said that the issue in Broughton points to a wider problem across Salford’s roads, which he described as “the worst” he’s experienced.

The council issued a tender for the works on Eccles Old Road yesterday (June 26).

The council is yet to detail the impact the road closure will have on motorists.
