Salford will celebrate Armed Forces Day with a parade, a family fun day and a special Red Devils match to honour military personnel.
The series of events will kick off with a flag-raising ceremony on Monday June 24 at 10:30 am at Swinton Town Hall. This will be led by the Lord Lieutenant and Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor.
For the Armed Forces Day on June 29, there will be a parade travelling from Dukes Drive Car Park, off Parrin Lane, Monton, Eccles concluding at Winton Park, Dover Street, Eccles.
Following the parade, you can enjoy lots of family fun in the park and a host of exciting activities and entertainment including children’s ride attractions, face painting, climbing wall and WI refreshments.
There will be entertainment on stage from 11am with children’s entertainers Louby Lou the clown, Magic Philip magician, Dominique and the Flat Cap.
There will also be an Armed Forces Day-themed match when Salford Red Devils play at the AJ Bell Stadium on June 23.
The whole game is armed forces themed with the pre-match fanzone hosting military vehicles, activities, information stands, military charities and associations along with a curtain raiser armed forces veterans game.
On field presentation includes firing field gun, standard bearers, cadets with flags, match ball delivery.
Armed Forces Day is a nationwide event that honours the contributions of servicemen and women, veterans, and their families. It is an opportunity as a city to say thank you to all our armed forces, both serving and veterans by showcasing all areas of the military community.
