Irlam’s first goal came from John Main, who hit a spectacular volley from just outside the penalty area and lobbed the opposition’s keeper.
They then doubled their lead with a quick turn from Millen Brown who lost his marker and slotted away the ball.
But, just before the half-time whistle blew, Longridge hit back. A volley from their number 11 Homson-Smith saw the lead cut in half just before the break.
Disaster struck twice as Longridge clawed further back into the game.
Another goal in quick succession had seen Irlam’s lead cut down to nothing.
Then, as quickly as Irlam had lost the lead they were back in front. With a lovely curled shout from outside the box, Mason Everton stroked the ball into the net to restore the lead.
Around the 75 minute mark, Irlam saw their toughest moment of the match. Mugalula was sent off, leaving Irlam with 10 players on the pitch.
After defending with everything they had, unfortunately Irlam conceded late on into the match to a goal by Marshall.
