Salford City FC and Foundation 92 have picked their eleven ‘heroes’ in the community which will be awarded at the Colchester United game next week.
On Tuesday February 27, during halftime at the match at The Peninsula Stadium, there will be a celebratory ceremony for the members of the community.
The members of the community will be brought out onto the pitch in front of a stadium full of fans for their positive impact on the local community.
The ‘Community Eleven’ team was originally announced as part of the first ever EFL Community weekend back in January, yet Salford City FC alongside Foundation 92 will be presenting the chosen 11 individuals in Tuesday’s game.
The Community Eleven aims to shine a light on members of the community’s dedication and hard work.
Members of the Community Eleven include members of Foundation 92’s women’s and men’s walking football teams, such as the walking football team lead George Marsh and Alison Mckenna, a female walking footballer.
The eleven also consists of Salford City FC’s Creative and Engagement manager Andrew Gordon, Foundation 92’s Youth Programme coordinator Holleeann Walker; who was also awarded the 2023 Foundation 92 Community Champion award.
A 92 Foundation Premier League Kicks participant named Kiaron, Club 92 participant called Macauley, and Wendy McCormack, an executive Headteacher of Salford schools.
Kev McCloskey, the Communities Officer at Clarion Future, Joe who is a Foundation 92 Dementia Friendly Walking sports participant, Cruz; an EFL trust Primary school head start participant and Scarlett who is a member of Foundation 92’s Premier League Primary Stars Program.
