Salford City travel south to Swindon Town this weekend as they seek to continue their surge up the League Two table.

The Ammies are unbeaten since the appointment of new boss Karl Robinson in JanuaryΒ and showed their progress under his tenure with a fine display against promotion challengers Wrexham last time out.

Their upturn in form has seen Salford become the top team in the League Two form table with 11 points from their last five matches, tied with Harrogate Town and Newport County.

Swindon have seen inconsistency over recent weeks, losing three and winning once since the start of the new year. A poor string of results eventually saw manager Michael Flynn get the sack on January 15, after a loss to Crewe Alexandra. The Wiltshire club are yet to appoint his successor, with Gavin Gunning taking up a caretaker role.

Following the loss of Jake Young and Dan Kemp to loan recalls at the start of the January transfer window, The Robins have been forced to dive into the transfer market, signing ex-Liverpool player Paul Glatzel to become the new man up top supporting Charlie Austin.

The reverse fixture earlier this season saw youth player Liam Humbles steal the headlines, with his 95th-minute goal denying the visitors all three points at the Peninsula Stadium.

Historically, Salford have only beaten Saturday’s opponents once in a competitive fixture, with Liam Shephard and Ryan Watson claiming goals in a 2-1 away win in February 2022.

The Ammies are yet to feature their two winter signings Jez Davies and Dan Chesters, meaning there is plenty of depth available in the middle of the park following the news that Ossama Ashley will miss the rest of the season through injury.

Salford City visit The County Ground to face Swindon Town this Saturday, with kick-off taking place at 3pm.
