Salford has been listed as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK in 2024.
This month, The Telegraph and Savills published what they believe to be the best value cities for quality of life in 2024.
The research was based on factors such as how much money people are making, as well as the cost of housing and exactly what there is to do in each city.
According to their research, it was ultimately found that residents in Salford were found to have a ‘more favourable ratio’ of property costs against their household incomes, providing an appealing lifestyle.
As well as this, housing and rent costs within Salford were found to be much lower than in other cities such as Manchester.
The research seemed to focus in on areas with competitive job industries as well as opportunities. Salford is particularly notable for its MediaCity on the Salford Quays, which houses a host of media industries as well as sitting next to quality entertainment venues such as The Lowry and the Imperial War Museum. These factors attract not only professionals but also a vast array of visitors.
In addition to this, the research highlighted Salford City Council’s plans of introducing 3,000 new homes in the Media City / Quay Side regeneration scheme. The plans themselves aims to allow for more employment opportunities and more leisure spaces.
Set to be in full swing by 2030, the council are proposing:
- “A vibrant and convenient town centre offering.”
- “Developing more commercial office space.”
- “Delivering high quality and affordable homes within attractively landscaped neighbourhoods.”
- “Enhancing the current waterfront and public realm areas while creating new green spaces.”
Many Salford residents have since taken to Facebook to share their opinions on Salford as a city.
One resident, after seeing this research, stated: “There is far more to Salford than just Salford Quays, some of it is quite beautiful!”
Another commented: “Love Salford, easy place to be, close to all you need.”
It is evident that Salford holds much more than only Salford Quays, but let’s hope that now Salford can obtain this new found status for years to come.
