Salford’s Soapworks business park is to undergo a £200 million renovation including building 450 apartments.

The regeneration of the 8.5-acre Soapworks site is designed to attract £3 billion of inward investment over the next 20 years.

Plans propose a new residential community in three riverside blocks including 450 new apartments in Ordsall. The commercial construction is set to be completed first.

There will be three tower blocks ranging in height from 10, 17 and 33 storeys which will replace the existing surface car park.

Plans outline that the regeneration aims to “enhance the well-established modern and dynamic centre for business, creativity, and leisure.”

Soapworks has committed to delivering four acres of green space with pedestrian-friendly streets, squares, and public spaces and a riverside park with the aim of “enhancing green routes to the local communities to maximise safe-cycling and walkability.”

Green spaces “will be laced with flora and fauna, trees and hedgerow to provide a relaxing feel and improve the mental wellbeing of residents within Salford” the application declared.

The application states: “Our mission at Soapworks is to provide a unique nurturing environment dedicated to the success of the business, creative and residential communities.” They are also promoting the ‘Salford Quays Vision 2030’ project.

The transformation aims to support Ordsall and the neighbourhood with the application outlining partnership through providing employment and training opportunities in the project objectives.

Work is ongoing for the proposed regeneration with no date set for completion as of yet.

TalkTalk headquarters are based in the Soapworks site but the company is not commenting on the renovation plans at present.
