Acoustic Amnesty are set to perform a charity gig hosted by Salford Sacred Trinity Church next Friday (February 2) to raise funds for Palestine’s medical aid.

The performance, led by Bill Holmes and Tim Mottershead, will be centred around Marvin Gaye’s album What’s Goin’ On which focuses on themes including war, religion and social issues.

Andy Salmon, Sacred Trinity Church Vicar, said: “We regularly host charity events. Acoustic Amnesty have been going for over 10 years, bringing amazing artists together in the name of charity.”

The Amnesty Manchester Group Quarterly Bulletin contains lots of useful information regarding their charity events and the causes behind them.

Manchester Amnesty members had prepared an exhibition showing photographs of Palestinian children holding up messages explaining how their lives are affected by war. The exhibition will further give an insight into children of Palestine who’ve lost their homes, their schools and their loved ones. Amnesty are looking to find somewhere to display this exhibition.

Andy added: “Palestine is really topical at the moment. Regardless of political views, it’s obvious that what’s happening in Gaza is absolutely terrible.”

Since the war started, roughly 25,100 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry which also says over two million Palestinians have been displaced.

The Manchester Amnesty Bulletin reads: “Recent talks have included several church based groups and have been well received by people who are well informed and deeply concerned.”

Acoustic Amnesty said: “This aid group in Palestine has been doing great work for a long time and sadly is needed more than ever today.”
