“I’ll eat anything!” – we asked Salfordians for their favourite pies

It’s National Pie Day, so we asked Salfordians for their favourite baked treats – and how they eat them.

First on our list was Zahid, a homemade pie lover who’s favourite pie was cheese and onion: “There’s only one chippy I like them from round here and to be honest they’re bog standard pies.

“No)one makes good homemade ones anymore!”

Across the street, we found Eunice, a chef who also seems to be a human pie guide. She said: “It depends what pie you’re thinking of. There’s the ones with puff pastry, there’s shepherd’s pie or if you’re thinking desserts there’s mince pies. I’m not fussy, I’ll eat or make anything”.

As we continued our quest, we encountered Hannah, a sweet-toothed pie lover who’s favourite is a classic apple pie with ice cream.

Following a poll on Twitter to find out which pie was the most popular, the biggest slice of votes crowned Meat and Potato as Salford’s number 1 taking 59% of votes, followed closely behind by cheese & onion and steak & kidney with 21%.
