Three candidates have been nominated in the upcoming January by-election for the new Salford Quays councillor.
Paul Heilbron – Liberal Democrats, Elizabeth McCoy – Labour Party and Romero O’Brien – Green Party will all compete to fill the currently vacant position left behind after former Lib Dem councillor Alex Warren stepped down in November.
Alex Warren, the previous councillor for Salford Quays announced his resignation via a X (Twitter) post. He claimed that his new position didn’t allow him to continue his role legally with Salford Council a he was to pursue a new career path for Watford Council.
The election is taking place on Thursday January 11 and polls will be taken between the hours of 7am and 10pm.
The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is tomorrow Wednesday January 3 2024.

To vote at a polling station, photo identification that meets the government’s voter ID requirements is required.
If you have not registered to vote the deadline for registering has passed on December 21.
