Midfielder, Ryan Watson, faced the press ahead of Salford’s trip to Essex tonight as he discussed the beginning of the Christmas footballing period.
Salford City begin the festive period of football which will see them play five games in 15 days following a two week hiatus from football.
Ryan Watson believes that the pause in playing has neither hindered nor boosted Salford, saying: “We do need to get back into our rhythm, we had players coming back from injury and getting a bit of a squad together again.
“I think we’re all looking forward to getting going again. We feel refreshed and recharged and like we can go again.”
Neil Wood’s side have been blighted by injuries throughout this campaign, and will continue to be without talisman, Callum Hendry or former Colchester player, Ossama Ashley for their trip to Colchester.
It’s a long trip down to Essex, so let’s make it a memorable one 🙌

Watson admits that these injuries have made it difficult for Salford to string together a strong run of form: “The injuries haven’t helped, it’s been hard to get momentum going because the next game we are missing players and then everyone is in and out.”
The poor form exhibited for much of this season sees Salford down in 20th, and while Watson admits this is not where he wants to be, Salford is not down for the count just yet, with Salford sitting 13 points off of the playoffs.
Watson added: “I think going into the new year we’ll be in good shape to give it a good push because we’re not too far off, the league is very tight.

“I know it maybe doesn’t look the best on paper but with the points totals we’re not a million miles away so if we have a strong Christmas period well be in good shape.”
Salford face Colchester United at the JobServe Stadium on Friday December 22, kicking off at 7.45pm.
