The first performance of Life of Pi’s festive run at The Lowry has been cancelled due to cast illness.
The Lowry posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) stating: “Unfortunately this evening’s performance of Life of Pi has been cancelled due to cast illness. Customers with tickets for tonight’s show should contact the box office to exchange their tickets or obtain a refund.
“We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused.”
Despite this evening’s cancellation, Life of Pi’s shows are still expected to go ahead, and can be seen at The Lowry until Sunday 7th January next year.
Life Of Pi is the first West End and Broadway play with a majority South Asian cast/creative team.
The team has won three Tony Awards in the following categories: Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design. Life of Pi also won five Olivier Awards in April 2022.
Divesh Subaskaran will make his professional debut in the central role of Pi. He is joined by Antony Antunes, who performs as Tiger Hind, Cook and Father Martin.
The play is also produced by Simon Friend in association with Playing Field and Tulchin/Bartner.
