A Salford and Eccles MP has spoken out over plans to demolish some of the Regent Road Retail Park and create a series of skyscrapers, one of which being the third tallest in the UK.
Rebecca reassured local residents in Ordsall that a number of Labour councillors and herself are planning to object to the proposals.
MP Rebecca Long-Bailey echoed the wording of residents, saying: “The proposed development plan to convert it into apartment complexes threatens livelihoods and community spirit.”

One of the key concerns of the proposal for local residents has been the potential loss of shopping space from the area which Rebecca argues is essential.
Rebecca added: “Our community heavily relies on the services & jobs provided by Regent Retail Park, a local shopping centre for Ordsall and across Salford.”
Residents in the surrounding Ordsall area have started a petition to “save Regent Retail Park” and prevent what they claim is gentrification.
The petition currently has 500 signatures which is halfway from its next goal of 1,000.
A planning application is expected to be submitted before the end of this year after the proposal has been “tweaked” to take local opinion into account..
