15:34 – Council issue costume fire warning ahead of Halloween
Salford City Council have published a reminder for locals ahead of Halloween.
The reminder has been set in protecting children’s safety from injury and risk of fires.
With the City Council urging parents to make sure that costumes fit the required safety standards with the markings UKCA or CE.
With Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services warning children to stay away from naked flames to avoid the risk of burns.

15:12 – Salford fighter to compete for mandatory challenger position at UFC 295
Salford born mixed-martial artist Tom Aspinall has finally been given an opportunity to become the mandatory challenger in the UFC heavyweight division.
The opportunity comes after the scheduled main event at UFC 295 had to be cancelled as the current heavyweight World Champion, Jon Jones had to pull out.
Aspinall hasn’t fought since July when he knocked out Marcin Tybura just over a minute into the first round, taking his professional record in the UFC to 13-3.
The Salford born fighter will be hoping to leave Madison Square Garden on the 11th November with a shot at the title against either Miocic or Jones in the rescheduled bout.

14:28 – Salford charity show concern to the rise in working people becoming homeless
A local Salford charity is showing concern to the recent rise of working people becoming homeless amongst the cost of living crisis.
Charity Salford Loaves and Fishes offer services such as providing hot meals as well as acting as a much needed support system for those who may be vulnerable in the community.
In 2022, the government implemented the £66 a month funding scheme to help people cover electric bills, with that now unavailable in 2023, the charity have grown concern with what is to come in the future.

14:00 – Chris Bates leaves manager role at Salford Red Devils Women
Chris Bates has left his role as manager at Salford Red Devils Women after the conclusion of the 2023 campaign.
The season saw the Red Devils Women finish 4th in the Women’s Super League Group 2.
Chris Bates has been in charge of the side since 2022 and has overseen a huge period of growth in his two years in charge of the side.
With 2024 just around the corner, the club are still actively looking for a new head coach and updates will be shared when appropriate.

13:48 – Salford’s Ceremonial Mayor helps local charity’s aim to plant seven billion trees
The Ceremonial Mayor of Salford Gina Reynolds and over 100 volunteers helped plant 600 trees in Dukes Drive Park, this Sunday.
Madam Mayor expressed her thanks to the organisation, that mainly consists of students and workers aged 30 or under.
The purpose of the group is to create opportunities for young adults to do good work and raise awareness among young people about environmental issues.
The trees and tree shelters were donated by EFORESTS, a national not-for-profit organisation established to help combat climate change and restore woodlands throughout the UK.

12:55 – Salford Red Devils have donated artifical grass to local dog charity in Irlam
Salford Red Devils have sent much needed artificial grass to a local Salford based dogs charity in Irlam called Dogs4Rescue to help the mud infested garden area.
The Greater Manchester weather always comes with rain, with this autumn being particularly wet in the city.
In the month of October the amount of rainfall in the city has been 125 millimetres in the month so far, which is more than the 118 millimetre average for the month of October.
This weather has caused carnage for the Irlam dogs charity Dogs4Rescue which has seen its garden area destroyed after already poor conditions have intensified due to the bad weather.
12:40 – Campaign to save Agecroft Chapel have achieved charity status
An organisation campaigning for the reparation of the Agecroft Chapel have gained charity status to assist in their efforts.
The Agecroft Chapel Restoration Association (ACRA), founded last year, has been seeking for new avenues to gain support and funding and have now officially become a charity.
The chapel, built circa 1903, was used up until the 1980’s when the building fell into ruin.
The association attended the Salford Histories Festival in Swinton to share what they have done so far and their future plans for the Gothic-style building in the heart of Agecroft Cemetery.

11:41 – Salford City continued to climb up the league despite winless weekend
Salford City have gone unbeaten in three consecutive fixtures, with a 0-0 draw against Barrow at the weekend.
The Ammies have moved up to 13th in the league, with only one league defeat in their last seven games.
And despite the Neil Wood’s side failing to record a shot on target, they have definitely taken a much needed turn from their disappointing September.

11:17 – Salford set to avoid the effects of Storm Ciaran
Salford looks to avoid the impacts of Storm Ciaran, with southern parts of the country currently on yellow warning.
With the effects of Storm Babet seeming to be over, the arrival of Storm Ciarn looks to bring 80mph gusts along the coastline.
However despite the city avoiding the brewing storm, locals should still be anticipating a mix of heavy rainfall and south-western winds.
With temperatures set to be nine degrees during the day, with the MET reporting it to get windier throughout the week.
10:56 – Police appealing for information of local Salford shooting
Salford police are appealing for information for a confirmed firearm discharge in Weaste from Sunday morning.
The shooting happening outside of Salford venue, Un.titled Studio at 2.50am.
With a reported male being sent to hospital presenting a gunshot wound, but the injuries at this time are not life threatening.
Police are appealing for information by calling 0161 856 5194 or 101 quoting log 637 of 29/10/2023.
