This October half-term there are plenty of supermarkets in Salford where children can get free and/or discounted meals.

Until the end of the year at ASDA, children can eat for £1 with free fruit at any time of day without the need for adults to purchase their own meal too.

At Sainsbury’s you can get one child’s hot main meal for £1 when an adult main meal is bought from £5.20 starting from 11:30am.

At the Morrisons café, children aged 16 and below can get one free meal with each adult meal purchased over £4.49 – the meal includes a piece of fruit and either fruit juice or water.

Since Friday October 20, Iceland has relaunched its ‘Holiday Freebie’ offer, giving shoppers who spend over £20 in-store free food items for easy dinners. To shop the offer, customers must swipe their Bonus Card and choose a free item from Iceland’s ‘easy tea’ items – including big brands such as Birds Eye to McCain.

Tesco supermarket cafes will be offering one free Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal with each item bought by an adult from as little as 60p when showing their Tesco Clubcard at the till.

Popular menu items include beans or avocado on toast, fish fingers, baked chicken goujons or a sandwich. Hot main meals include a vegetable side dish, and the sandwich pick n mix includes a piece of fresh fruit and two snacks.

Jason Tarry, Tesco UK CEO, said: “Kids Eat Free is just one of the ways we’re helping our customers to spend less at Tesco. We know that costs can add up over the school holidays, so offering free meals to children with any item purchased at our cafés for an adult, is one of the ways we are supporting parents during this time.”
