The stadium has been the subject of interest of Salford City Council for purchase with a number of meetings taking place regarding buying the stadium.
New valuations on the stadium, formerly known as the AJ Bell stadium, value the stadium and surrounding land at £16.1m at the year end March 2022.
The stadium is currently a “joint venture” between Salford City Council and Peel group of a 50:50 split.
In March, the cabinet of Salford City Council heard of “Debt in CoSCoS (City of Salford Community Stadium) reflects input by the JV parties over time and currently stands at circa £37m. This is made up of a mixture of Council and Peel debt.”
The stadium currently hosts Salford Red Devils and Sale Sharks. There was interest from both Red Devils and Salford City FC before being rebuffed by the council last December when they made the decision to pursue a purchase of the stadium themselves.
New documents which can be found of the CoSCoS Companies house show that the stadium complex, car parking and adjacent land are valued at £16.1m while the development land next to the stadium was valued at £14.85m at the year end March 2022.
The council stated back in March that their purchase of the stadium was to help ensure the jobs of those at the stadium and secure the ongoing community use of the stadium.
