Salford residents are invited to discuss plans to redevelop Regent Retail Park in a three and a half week consultation period.
It is the second time that the developers, Henley Investments, has taken their plans to the public.
The first consultation came in late February and into March of this year.
Henley Investments said the second phase of discussions is “working to incorporate resident’s comments and suggestions into the new masterplan.”
The redevelopment would see five acres of public open space, up to 3,200 new homes, and almost 10,000 sq meters of community and commercial space.
A large chunk of the current Regent Retail would be demolished, while the Sainsbury’s Supermarket would remain untouched.
The face lift would also see the UK’s third tallest skyscraper erected (264m), amongst a cluster of 10 proposed towers.
The second round of consultation launched on Thursday September 27 and will close on Friday October 20 2023.
Some locals have already expressed their discontent on social media in response to an announcement of the project.
One user, Julie Smith, said: “More flats, losing well used shops and definitely won’t be enough parking! And if you are bringing all those extra people what about doctors, chemists, schools etc.”
Meanwhile another user, Kaye Ryan, said: “Cut through all the fancy talk and they’re just building more flats that nobody can afford to live in. Meanwhile we lose all the shops.”
Warwick Hunter, Managing Director of Development and Head of ESG at Henley Investments, said: “We were delighted to have heard from so many local people during the first stage of the consultation this year.
“The most important part of any new development is the people who will be part of it.”
Locals will have further opportunities to give thoughts to developers throughout the coming consultation period.
A community drop in at Salford Lads Club will take place from 3pm until 8pm on Friday October 6.
As well as this, there will be an online webinar via Zoom on Wednesday October 11 from 6pm.
A website in place for public discussion along with further information on the project can be found here.
