A new single from Salford’s biggest up-and-coming teenage trio, The Height, is the soundtrack for Salford City’s new kit launch.
The band’s third single, ‘One to Another’ was released across all streaming platforms at midnight.
The band made up of John Denton, 13, on vocals/lead guitar, Brandon Greenalgh,12, on bass and Ted Ellis, 16, on drums, formed last summer, before releasing their first single, Go, in February 2023.
Lead singer, John Denton, said: “This is a real banger which we wrote being a teenager and not really fitting in with the fortnight playing, x-box addicted, Tiktok swiping culture.
“When you’re not into all that you can be a bit of an outsider but there’s a whole loads of kids just like us who love music and creating brilliant tunes.
“We’re delighted that Salford City have decided to choose this track to launch their new kit and we hope it begins a bit of an anthem in Salford.”
Since their formation, the band have caught the ear of legendary The Smiths guitarist and co-songwriter Johnny Marr who awarded lead vocalist/guitarist John Denton the Salford Foundation Trust Johnny Marr Award.
After meeting through mutual friends, John and Ted began creating music together after school. Then, after accompanying his grandma to Francis House’s Jubilee Tea Party, John met Brandon, and The Height was formed.
With Ted drumming since the age of two (and since receiving training from Nile Rogers’ accompanying percussionist), Brandon hailing from a family tree of local artists, and John finding inspiration from greats such as ACDC, the band has a mix of eclectic inspirations.
The band have a gig to launch their upcoming EP at Salford Lad’s Club on Saturday, September 30. Tickets can be found on the website.
