Several Salford supermarkets are running schemes that allow families to feed their children cheaply this summer holidays.
At Morrisons, Tesco and Asda Salford residents will be able to feed their children three daily meals for less than £1.60 a day without having to cook.
At Morrisons cafes, shoppers of any age will be able to get two toasted crumpets with jam and butter for free until August 16 if they “ask for Ellen.”
At Asda cafes, children under the age of 16 will be able to get a hot meal for £1.
They will also have the option of getting a cold pick-and-mix meal for £1, which includes a sandwich and a piece of fruit.
The scheme for both hot and cold meals at Asda runs until September 16 with details of the scheme being able to be found here.
At Tesco, excluding weekends, shoppers will have the opportunity to get a free kids meal when they spend 60p at a Tesco café until September 1.
The options include a range of different hot and cold breakfast and lunch meals including, for example, a “Little Beans on Toast meal”, a chicken goujons meal, and many more.
There will also be the option of a “Kids’ Pick ‘N’ Mix meal” which includes a sandwich, two pieces of fruit, and a drink.
More details about Tesco’s “Kids Eat Free” scheme can be found here.
There is also the opportunity for Salford residents to send their children, who are between the ages of 5-12, to a free holiday club that will run throughout the summer holidays with free school meals being provided.
Wildings HAF is running the club under the name “Wildings Holiday Club” with two separate groups, one for kids between the ages of 5-10 years old and one for kids between the ages of 8 and 12 years old.
The club at Wardley Hall Gardens is set to start on July 31 and will be funded by Salford City Council.
More details about Wildings Holiday Club can be found here.
