Ordsall McDonalds, KFC and Grosvenor Casino could be knocked down to make way for a redevelopment scheme.

Plans to replace Riverside Retail Park, Derwent Street, with four blocks between nine and 25 storeys were submitted for prior approval on Wednesday (12 July) by Imco Holdings.

The scheme would see a total of 1,950 apartments created across the four towers. If approved, work could begin on the site as early as May 2024 and last for up to eight weeks.

An artists’ impression of what the development could look like

The news comes just five weeks after plans to demolish most of Regent Retail park to make way for the UK’s third tallest tower was submitted to the council for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

Prior approval is a process where developers require approval from the local planning authority before proceeding.
