North Walkden Primary school will benefit from a £200,000 electrical refurbishment to replace lighting and power systems.

The plan was voted through by the procurement board of Salford City Council.

The works will be completed in four phases, with the first two phases to be completed during the Summer holidays and the second two phases to take place in the October half-term.

The proposed works would be for “complete replacement of the general lighting systems, the small power systems, mains distribution system and partial replacement of the containment systems.”

The report also states that the current lighting system, which last had a condition survey in October 2018, are “old and potentially over 20 years in age.”

“The lighting in the school is predominantly fluorescent lights that are inefficient, soon to be obsolete, and require replacing.”
