For Chapel Street coffee shop, Brew-Tang, offering creatives a platform to share their work is at the heart of the business.
Since launching with a photography exhibition by Simon Green, a former tour manager for the Wu Tang Clan, in February 2020, owner Aiden Dewhirst has provided exhibition space for artists, hip hop music playing in the background and vinyl records for sale from his own collection, in addition to the usual coffee shop fare.
Brew-Tang is currently displaying work from Manchester-based artist Harriet Butler, providing a sales outlet for her and interesting decor for customers.

Aiden said: “It is just quite a good atmosphere. People come in and dig and listen to records and it is quite good fun to have a brew while looking for records.”
The shop also collaborates with Manchester-based The Flat Bakers, which supplies its baked goods such as Kinder Bueno croissants and cinnamon swirls.

The collaboration came about due to the pandemic, with Aiden wanting to return with flare when the chance to safely reopen came around.
He said: “I was looking on social media for good pastries and found these guys.”
