Salford City manager Neil Wood said that his side’s 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Colchester United was a “difficult result to take.”
The Ammies didn’t take their chances against the U’s, and Noah Chilvers’ deflected effort was enough to take the three points back to Essex.
Wood thought that his side’s reaction to going behind was “brilliant.”
He said: “It was a frustrating game. I think we shot ourselves in the foot with the goal we gave away.
“They took the game from there. I thought they went on the front foot.
“We had about 24 or 25 attempts at goal, on another day we would have scored 3 or 4, but it didn’t fall for us.”

The game was filled with controversial referee decisions, including Louie Barry going down in the box in added time.
Wood hadn’t seen the incident back, but thought that “It looked like a penalty from where I was.
He continued: “You’d have expected if it wasn’t a penalty he would have been booked for simulation.
“I thought the referee was poor throughout.
“[The game] was on the brink of getting out of control.”
The result dropped out of the League Two play-offs following Mansfield’s 1-1 draw against Grimsby.
Asked whether the result was terminal to the team’s hopes, Wood said: “I don’t think it is. For us, its not over until that final whistle goes here against Gillingham on the 8th of May.
“We’re still close, there’s still games to go. There’s some difficult games around us, with teams playing each other.
“We’re going to give it our all, we’re not dead and buried by any means.”
