Salfordians will be able to attend the RHS Garden Bridgewater for free on Tuesdays for another year.
Since its opening, the gardening charity’s Worsley complex has seen more than 42,000 Salfordians visit for free on Tuesdays.
The 156-acre garden, which opened in May 2021 after a delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was given £19 million by Salford Council towards its transformation.
It is expected to generate more than £13 million in revenue for the local economy by the end of the decade.
The garden was created and designed with the local community in mind, with up to 7,000 local school children have benefitting from the green learning resource since it opened.
Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett said: “This is pioneering for Salford residents with free weekly access to the garden and concessions for local school children, carers with disabled visitors and special education groups.
“It is the first time the RHS has given this type of access for the local community.”
When speaking about the journey to get the garden built, RHS director general, Sue Biggs, said: “We always thought it would take us longer to find our fifth garden, but with its beautiful landscapes, good public transport links and outstanding location, Worsley New Hall was an opportunity we couldn’t miss.”
Salford residents can book free Tuesday tickets to the garden here.
