Salfordians are being encouraged to join a televised Comic Relief dancing lesson ran by a Strictly Come Dancing star.
A giant Charleston dance lesson will take place tomorrow morning (Friday 17 March) as part of BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones’ 24 hour dancing challenge, “Gethin Keeps Dancing”.
For half an hour, Salfordians will have the chance to dance alongside Strictly’s Aljaž Skorjanec in order to surprise Jones during the final two hours of his 24 dancing marathon.
The event will be linked, live, with Gethin in the studio, and will be broadcast on BBC iPlayer and Red Button.
No dance experience is needed, and participants are encouraged to invite friends and family to the event.
Gethin began the 24 hour dancing marathon this morning, with Strictly pros and judges such as Claudia Winkleman, Tess Daly, Shirley Ballas and Anton DuBeke joining him every hour. Mr Jones said: “I cannot wait to get started on this epic Strictly Fitness challenge for Comic Relief.
“It’s going to be absolutely brutal, and take all I’ve got, but I’m doing everything I can to train and get ready for the big day, because I’m determined to raise as much money as possible.
The One Show are also set to join in the celebrations during tonight’s broadcast.
Mr Jones continued: “I love Red Nose Day and everything they do for people going through the toughest times of their lives, in the UK and around the world.
“Every day on Morning Live we talk about, and hear, how much people are struggling right now. It’s never felt more important to throw everything into trying to help, and raise as much as we can for those who need it most. And hopefully, have a little fun along the way too. Well, maybe for the first hour.”
To get involved, email gethinkeepsdancing@bbc.co.uk to register, with DANCE LESSON as the subject and include the names of the people you would like to bring with you.
