Salford Lionesses ran riot last Sunday putting a formidable 10 goals past Warrington Wolves in the North West Regional Cup quarter-final.

The goalscoring was opened early on in the 4th minute of the game by captain Emily Hutton firing a bullet of a shot into the roof of the net after the Warrington defense failed to clear a corner.

Becky Coe then doubled Salford’s lead in 14 minutes later finishing clinically after some smart build-up play.

From here the floodgates opened as Abdullahi and Tobin took their chances and Duce scored a peach of a curled shot delivered with a postage stamp that was only ever destined for the top left corner.

After a dominant first half the Lionesses roared into half-time with a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Normal goal-scoring service was resumed in the 52nd minute when Kay Baker met a corner with a commanding header that proved too strong for the Warrington keeper to parry away.

The match then became the Abdullahi and Tobin show as the pair went on to score two more each, completing their hattricks and taking the grand total to 10 goals.

The pick of the bunch being an Abdullahi solo goal that saw the forward use her electric pace to run half the length of the pitch, turn right, cut inside and finish with vigour into the top right.

Warrington Wolves proved they had some bite as they etched their first onto the scoreboard in the 90th minute.

The match finished a brilliant 10-1 victory for the Salford Lionesses who continue their fine season which sees them second in the North West Women’s Regional League and into the semi-finals of the North West Regional Cup.

The result rounds off a fantastic goal-scoring weekend for Salford City as the men’s side scored five in a 5-2 win against Mansfield.
