A charity volunteer is hosting a photography exhibition titled ‘View from a Lens’ to raise money for Emmaus Salford, which helps formerly homeless people to rebuild their lives.
Chris Lord, who has volunteered at Emmaus for two years, is displaying a collection of her photography for sale. The photographs show a variety of scenes from places across the globe, including Mexico, Cambodia, and Ireland.
A range of upcycled decoupage furniture worked on by Chris and people being supported by Emmaus Salford will also be on sale.
Chris said:
“My relationship with Emmaus Salford started a few years ago when I took a small piece of furniture I had upcycled back to the shop. The community director was there and when she saw what I had done, she asked if I would be interested in doing some more upcycling for Emmaus.
“I love the Emmaus charity and how it supports people to improve their lives, so I decided that selling my photographs would be a great way to raise funds. I have travelled a lot and have always enjoyed taking photographs of people, landscapes, plants, and animals.”
Emmaus Salford supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to regain lost self-esteem to help rebuild their lives.
Chief operating officer, Jackie Smith, said:
“Emmaus Salford is very fortunate to have volunteers such as Chris providing consistent support to the charity and fundraising vital funds in many ways. This latest project provides an opportunity for us to highlight more of Chris’s many talents.”
The exhibition will take place from 10am-3pm on Saturday 25 February at Emmaus Salford Emporium at 162-170 Partington Lane, Swinton. All profits from the sale of the photographs and furniture will be donated to Emmaus Salford. Anything not sold on the day will be made available for sale on the charity’s Facebook page.
