Salford Veterans Association are working to memorialise those who have died serving the British army by creating a series of engraved plaques.
They will be located at a dedicated memorial wall in the Salford Veterens Memorial Garden, directly opposite from the Swinton Cenotaph.
Glenn Croston, who runs the service, said: “The cost is £50 per plaque which is not a bad price considering how much it can mean to a family. It can help to remember the loved one of the family who deserved the recognition. It will be there forever so future generations will be able to see how much they meant to the family.
“Our services cater to those who are friends or family of a soldier who has passed. Its a beautiful way to remember them. We feel its a great place as its directly opposite the Swinton Cenotaph next to the local council building. Anybody who has served and passed away in a war can apply for one. They can do this via the council website or on the app.”
There are many different ways to pay for the plaque these include: paying by cheque and paying by cash or card in person.
He continued: “There is usually a two week turnaround from when you pay to when you get your plaque. We order in supply in batches of 10 so when we receive on order of 10 we will get them out to people.
“We hope we can get as many as possible to make the Salford Veterans Garden a truly special place where people can reflect on important members of the armed forces and most importantly of peoples families.”
