Community groups in Salford hoping to organise events celebrating the coronation of King Charles III can apply for permission from today – and may also qualify for a grant.
Events can run any time from Thursday 4 May to Monday 8 June.
Applications for events are open now for parties, live music, funfairs and community walks. To hold an event in a Salford public park, green space, street or other open space, applications must be submitted to Salford Council by Friday 31 March 2023.
Groups and organisations with approval for an outdoor event based in Salford can apply for a grant for an event for the coronation.
There are two categories for funding for the event the first being grants under £500 aimed at non-constituted groups, where the event is free and open to local residents, groups and members celebrating the coronation.
The second are grants of more than £500 aimed at constituted groups, where the event is free and open to the wider community.
Salford Residents can also get involved with some national events happening to celebrate the Coronation. The Coronation Big Lunch, on Sunday 7 May, will bring the Coronation festivities into the heart of every community.
More details on getting involved is available on the Coronation Big Lunch website.
The Big Help Out, on Monday 8 May, will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the legacy of His Majesty’s service and showcase the impact of volunteering within communities.
Whether it’s helping a local group or joining some of the UK’s best-known national charities, people across the UK will be able to get involved, find out more on The Big Help Out website.
