The family of a grandfather who vanished in Salford have renewed their plea for his return more than a month after his disappearance.
Peter Baglin, 55, from Boothstown in Worsley, went missing from the area on December 28.
CCTV captured Mr Baglin buying a small bottle of whisky at a Texaco garage on East Lancs Road, Mosley Common, at 7.38pm.
He last spoke to his wife on the phone at 8.15 pm, telling her he was going for a walk along the Bridgewater Canal.
His wife Michelle Dearden-Baglin said:
“Everyone wants his safe return with his family. My life has stopped until he’s home.
“ ‘I love you Mr Baglin, always and forever’ – those are our words which we text everyday.
“He would text back: ‘I love you Mrs Baglin, more! You are my world.’.”
Since his disappearance Mrs Baglin, who works at Salford Royal Hospital alongside her husband, has organised searches along the canal with the help of more than 200 people.
Taking to social media on January 27, Mr Baglin’s family said: “It’s now been over four weeks since Pete went missing.
“Despite his belongings having been found a couple of days later, and some reported sightings in and around Manchester which have sadly not turned out to be Pete, we are still no closer to finding him, and have no idea where he is, and he might not even be in the Greater Manchester area anymore.
“We can only theorise what’s happened, but we’re hoping someone out there knows something, as one little clue could lead us to him. So do please share this post far and wide, on the off-chance someone spots him or knows something.”
Mr Baglin is a white man with blue eyes who has short grey hair which is layered at the top. He is around 5′ 10″ tall with a distinctive ‘Michelle’ tattoo on the left of his neck.
On the CCTV footage, Mr Baglin is wearing a grey Mountain Equipment sports jacket with red zip, a grey hat, navy trousers and trainers. He is also wearing his wedding ring.
His hat, phone, headphones, tobacco, bank cards and house key were discovered on a towpath near the canal on December 29.
Mr Baglin’s wife, Michelle Dearden-Baglin, whom he has been with for almost 30 years, said: “Pete would always buy a sandwich and drink for the homeless when out shopping. He is a loving husband and father.
“His mum is absolutely devastated by him going missing, as we all are.
“The GMP is also going to send the appeal to Devon due to Pete’s mum and dad living in Paignton, Torquay.
Police, family and friends, are urging individuals with information on his disappearance to contact them as soon as possible via:
- Greater Manchester Police on 0161 856 8351 or 0161 856 7857
- The Police Call Centre on 999 (if an emergency) or 101 for a non-emergency
- Crimestoppers (anonymously) on 0800 555 111
- The GMP website
Mr Baglin’s family said via social media: “Pete, if you’re somehow managing to read this, please make contact with someone.
“We’re all missing you and we want you home.
“You’re not in any trouble with anyone, just contact us so we know you’re safe and we can get you home and any help that you may need.”
