Salford detectives are appealing for information following a “senseless act of violence” which left an 18-year-old man with serious injuries.
The man was injured in a collision on Gore Avenue between a white Ford EcoSport with cloned plates and a cyclist heading in the direction of Weaste Lane last Monday (January 30) at around 4.30pm.
The vehicle involved was abandoned on Cranbrook Road, Winton, the following evening (Tuesday January 31).
The registration plate, which was cloned, was FX17 VOM. The true keeper of this number plate has no connection to this investigation.
Police are appealing for any witnesses in the area at the time or who may have seen the white Ford EcoSport elsewhere.
Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dashcam and doorbell footage that may have picked up the white Ford EcoSport on the road just before, during, or just after the accident.
Detective Inspector Chris Horsfield, of Salford CID, said: “This was a senseless act of violence against a young man. We are currently following all lines of enquiry, and no matter how small you think the information may be, it could prove vital to the investigation.”
Anyone with information can contact police on either 101 or 0161 856 5049 quoting incident 2586 of 30/01/23. Details can also be passed via the LiveChat function at www.gmp.police.uk or via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
