Salford Symphony Orchestra are preparing to perform their first Christmas Concert in three years after COVID restrictions.
Simon Caplan, the chairman of the Orchestra, has held the role for over 20 years and is also a violinist in the orchestra. He has said he is looking forward to the concert: “It’s one of the highlights of the year for Salford Symphony. We are quite excited about it.”
Mr Caplan described the importance of the orchestra in Salford. He continued: “It is vital, as far as I’m aware we are the only full-size amateur symphony orchestra in Salford.
“So we play a very important role in the cultural life of this community in Salford.”
Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for under 16’s and students. Mr Caplan hopes that the prices will encourage a younger audience: “We have tried to price it competitively.
“We like to draw a mixed audience because some of our other concerts contain serious classical music but this is a lighter concert.”
Performances on the night include ‘White Christmas’, ‘Sleigh Ride’ and, for the first time, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’.
Marco Guidici is conducting the orchestra.
The concert is on Sunday 11th December at St Paul’s Church on Moor Lane in Salford at 5pm.
