Salford Parents are being encouraged to book their children in for a nasal flu vaccine as soon as possible this winter.
The Salford Integrated Care partnership are advising parents/ guardians to book their child in with their local GP.
According to Kids Flu Vaccine – Greater Manchester, flu kills an average of 11,000 people a year living in England.
Salford Integrated Care Partnership tweeted: “It’s awful when a little one is ill! Protect your 2 or 3-year-old from the flu this winter and keep them and the rest of you smiling. Call your GP now to book them a free nasal vaccine (or by injection if needed).”
A Spokesperson for Kids Flu Vaccine – Greater Manchester said: “Flu can be really unpleasant for little ones, and in some cases, serious. Children are also ‘super spreaders’, meaning they could easily pass it on to the rest of the family too.
“Older children are offered the nasal flu vaccination at school. You will be asked to fill in a consent form and you can choose whether or not you want your child to have the vaccination.
“The nasal flu vaccination is quick and easy and means everyone will be protected.”
