A pub in Boothstown is collecting toys for struggling families in Salford over Christmas.
The Royal Oak Pub, of Leigh Road, is preparing for its fourth year running the operation.
Organiser, Karen Baird, said: “I think its anybody’s duty if they’ve got a business to help out in the community wherever they can.
“It’s a way of us helping our community, putting a smile on kids’ faces so that they’ve got something to open on Christmas morning.”
Gifts are collected by Salvation Army volunteers, who wrap them up and provide them to families in need.
The pub expects demand to be higher this year due to the cost of living crisis. She continued: “Because of the current climate, people are not able to afford much. If we can help those families who can’t afford a present, that’s what we do it for.
“I think you’re going to get more people needing everything – food, toys, anything really.”
She also thanked those who have contributed so far.
Donations can be dropped off at the Royal Oak, until Saturday December 2. Presents need to be new and in their original packaging.
