Australian half-back Brodie Croft has been offered a new contract as Salford Red Devils look to keep hold of their star man.
Croft, who won the 2022 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award, is only contracted for one further season, but Salford Red Devils’ director of rugby, Ian Blease, has confirmed that talks to extend Croft’s contract are at an advanced stage.
“I’ve been speaking and discussing extending Brodie’s deal for some time now,” said Blease.
“He’s contracted for 2023 and we’ve now formalised the deal. The offer is with his agent and hopefully he’ll make the decision that pleases our fans, which would be to keep the Man of Steel as a Red Devil in the years to come,” he added.
The 25-year-old from Dalby, Queensland, was crowned player of the season in 2022; contributing seven tries and 25 try assists in a campaign which saw Salford Red Devils surprise many punters by finishing sixth in the Betfred Super League.
Speculation has been rapidly increasing over Croft’s future after such an impressive season. Teams from the Australian National Rugby League are now able to negotiate with him as he enters the final year of his contract, so Red Devils fans will hope that a new deal is tied up soon to ensure his future lies at the AJ Bell Stadium.
