Barton Athletic Club are raising money for Salford 4 Good via a weightlifting competition next month.
The event will be held at the athletic club on Sunday 4th December at 9:00. The event is being organised by Gareth Williams, head coach of Barton Athletic Club.
Salford 4 Good is managed by Salford CVS. They aim to help good causes by giving time, skills money and resources to local businesses.
Each competitor will pay a £10 donation towards Salford 4 Good. There will also be a £3 raffle that will feature prizes that will be donated by the public, with all proceeds going to the charity.
John Lightfoot, of Barton Athletic Club, said: “We will be holding a weightlifting competition that will feature weightlifters from across the North West. We have four or five clubs that will be providing around 60 competitors for the competition.
“Salford 4 Good has helped our club in the past, they helped us to raise money in order to construct the building that our club is currently based in. We’re hoping to give back to the charity after they supported us.
“We’ve done charity events before but we haven’t been able to hold them for a long time as we had to put as much money as possible into our new building. Thanks to the support that Salford 4 Good gave us we’re glad to be raising money for charity again.”
Barton Athletic Club will celebrate its 70th birthday next year, being founded in 1953.
The club is located at 37 Franklin St, Eccles and can be contacted on 0161 775 0799.
