Eccles Life Church is running a program where nominated members of the community can win a free Christmas present.
The aim is to bring people closer together as well as highlighting those individuals that deserve a surprise this Christmas.
Eighteen members of the Life Church volunteered to both buy and deliver the presents for deserving members of the community.
Last year, the event was a success, with 35 nominations and presents being given out.
People were brought to tears as someone within their life had showed them the support during the winter months.
Anne Beswick, who received a gift last year said: “I was really happy with my gift from Christmas Angels as I often struggle.
“I was so happy that someone else would do such a good thing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
The gift can be for anyone in Eccles, with single parents and careers often being rewarded with the special gesture.
Eccles Life Church is a part of Life Church Manchester which has been running since 1877.
They were originally a Baptist Church in Sale and have now widened their vision and influence across Manchester and Salford.
They continue to be part of the Baptist Union and the Maximise regional network of churches.
Derek Hughs, who runs the Eccles branch of the Manchester Life Church said: “They feel loved and seen.
“To feel seen by someone in your life and a show of gratitude and appreciation goes a long way to impact people in their daily lives.”
Gaynor Merrishaw, who used the initiative said: “Christmas Angels was a fantastic idea and really helped cheer my mother-in-law up last year, I hope it keeps going for as long as possible so people can enjoy bit of Xmas cheer.”
