Christopher Eccleston and Maxine Peake have been announced as two of the speakers at this year’s ‘Radical Readers’ event, held by the Working Class Movement Library.

Hosted at Eccles Town Hall, the annual fundraising event works to educate audiences on the lives and political beliefs of the working class.

Taking place on Sunday 4th December, this year’s event will feature readings by Christopher Eccleston, Maxine Peake and James Quinn with original poetry and songs by Oliver Lomax and Jen Reid.

This is the first time the event has been held in-person since before the pandemic. Royston Futter, Working Class Movement Trustee explained: “We are delighted to be resuming the Radical Readings fundraisers with our first all verse offering and it will be fantastic to see old and new friends in reality rather than Zoomality.

“The proceedings will be going towards technical and AV updates for the Annexe that we are hoping to start refurbishing very soon.

“We are always extremely grateful to our readers who volunteer their valuable time and we are very pleased to be using Eccles Community Hall for the first time. It is a great venue with very good access by public transport and, like the library, has lots of volunteers helping out.”

Radical Readers will be held at Eccles Town Hall on Sunday 4th December. Tickets are available to purchase on Eventbrite.
