Pillars of smoke billowed over Salford yesterday afternoon after a fire broke out at a scrapyard on Blackfriars Road.
Emergency services attended the scene in Lower Broughton shortly before 15:00 yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 13th November).
Two fire engines from Salford and Manchester fire station were at the scene for around forty minutes.
Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and extinguished the fire using hose reels.
Salford residents shared their concerns for the situation online.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 3pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday 13th November), two fire engines from Salford and Manchester central fire station were called to reports of a fire at a scrap yard on Blackfriars road, Salford.
“The crews arrived quickly at scene and worked to make the area safe. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
“Firefighters were in attendance for around forty minutes.”
