A production of the children’s classic tale ‘Sleeping Beauty’ is coming to The Lowry Theatre.
Directed and choreographed by theatre legend, Matthew Bourne, and production company New Adventures, this gothic romance has been famed as one of the fastest selling productions of the pair’s history.
Celebrating its ten year anniversary, the production is set to visit The Lowry as part of its national tour.
Last year saw Bourne’s ‘Nutcracker’ visit The Lowry, a flamboyant Christmas tale with explosions of colour and sound.
Like ‘Nutcracker’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ features a score by Tchaikovsky, performed by the likes of Ashley Shaw (Princess Aurora), Andrew Monaghan (Leo) and Paris Fitzpatrick.
This year, two New Adventures Emerging Artist Apprentices, Hannah Kremer, currently in her third year at Rambert, and Perreira Franque currently in his last year at Performer’s College, will both make their professional debuts.
New Adventures has also announced its first Schools Tour that will accompany the national tour. The production company plans to deliver workshops to dozens of schools in the local community with the aim of broadening the students’ horizons to the world of dance as young audience members.
Sleeping Beauty will be at The Lowry 22nd-26th November 2022.
