A group of ghost hunters claim they felt “intimidated” by a ghost haunting experience at Ordsall Hall.
The group recently visited the 14th century mansion and believe they felt the spirit of the mansion’s previous owners.
Ghost hunter and Author, Catherine Green, more commonly known as ‘Spooky Mrs Green’ recently did her first ever overnight ghost hunt at Ordsall Hall.
She said: “It’s a long time ago I was in there, I was sitting in there with the team of investigators and myself and three other women in the group. We all felt very intimidated, we all felt we wanted to put our backs to the wall and didn’t want to be vulnerable”
“There was a small group of us, and we were in darkness, in rooms we were investigating we would get flashes of light, almost like a torch switching on or off.”
They believe they were in the presence of previous owner, Sir John Radclyffe, who inherited the house in the 1500s and is said ‘to be very keen on the ladies.’
“It’s haunted, what we experienced in there, you can’t have a building that old, we communicated with spirits on our ghost hunt that night, we did all sorts of seance-type of investigations, and we all heard things and felt things that we just couldn’t explain away”
The Tudor Manor House has been home to many ghost sightings, the most common of which believed to be ‘The White Lady’.
“We had a medium with us who would pick up on energies and communicate with them and we do believe we communicated with, possibly The White Lady.”
The White Lady is thought to be Lady Margret Radclyffe, who died of a broken heart in 1559 after the death of her brother.
The White Lady has had many sightings throughout the years, most commonly being seen by the entrance near the gift shop and is reportedly only usually seen for a ‘blink’.
Ordsall hall is open all year round, for visits, events and ghost tours.
